We included all species occurring in former East Germany (Frank and Klotz 1990 - 2208 species) and added species frequent in some special vegetation types in the Alps. Besides all central European species which we have experience with from the field are also included into the database. All species which may show clonal growth are considered as clonal species. We excluded all types of agamospermy, i.e., production of fertile seeds in the absence of sexual fusion between gametes (Richards 1990).
