4. "Ranunculus ficaria" type

Root tubers. The tubers are short-lived and serve as storage and regenerative organ. The plant dies back in autumn, except for the root tuber(s) which bear just one bud each for spring regrowth. During summer old tubers decay and new ones are formed. Vegetative spreading in non-disturbed habitats is poor. The number of ramets produced during the life-span of a genet is usually low
