15. "Lycopus europaeus" type

Annual below-ground tubers on distal part of below-ground plagiotropic stems. The tubers serve as storage organ and bear buds used for spring regrowth. The below-ground plagiotropic stems bear roots and bracts. At an apical part of the below-ground stem, a single tuber is formed or several tubers originate along the rhizome. The below-ground plagiotropic stems serve as vascular connection to the mother plants
