Born in Praha (Czech Republic), March 12, 1946

Position: Researcher, Botanical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Třeboň

Main fíelds of interest: algology (phycology): taxonomy of diatoms, autecology; limnology of reservoirs and rivers; hydrobiology: ecology of algae, planktonology; water treatment technology

Education, positions:

1965-1970: Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic), Faculty of Natural Sciences, Biology/Chemistry, branch hydrobiology, finished with a diploma exam and diploma thesis "Methods for the bacterial growth rate assessment" (supervisor Dr. Straškrabová), M. Se. at Dep. Hydrobiology in 1970.

1970-1971: Military Service

1971-1994: in Prague Water Supply Company, Water Treatment Plant Podolí, central laboratory, as biologist/chemist. 1979: RNDr. degree in limnology (externally), thesis "Contribution to limnology of the Želivka Reservoir", Faculty of Natural Sciences, Charles University in Prague.

1995- 2002: Prague Water Supply and Sewerage Company, Water Treatment Plant Podolí, as
a chief of the technological laboratory.

2002-2004: After the dissolution of the technological laboratory in Podolí transferred to the
Laboratory of the microbiological and biological analyses as biologist.

2004: Scientific worker, Institute of Botany, AS CR, Třeboň.

Postgraduate course of limnology (1975/77), Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic)

Postgraduate course of water treatment technology (1983/85), Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, Czech Republic.

Membership: Czech Botanical Society since 1985

Czech Algological Society since 2003

Czech Limnological Society since 1972.

Active participation at international scientific meetings: Hungarian Algological Meetings -nearly regularly since 1990, Die Deutschesprachigen Diatomologen Treffen -nearly regularly since 1991, International Diatom Symposium 2000 in Athens.
